NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL


Today is Monday, August 26th and in London people celebrates Notting Hill Carnival, the largest street festival in Europe. It is held the last Monday in August and the previous weekend and it attracts around one million people. It started in 1966 on the streets of Notting Hill, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. This local festival was set up by members of the West Indian community of the Notting Hill area in 1966 to celebrate and maintein their cultural traditions.

In the streets of West London you can find colourful costumes parades, hundreds of Caribbean food stalls, 
traditional steel drum bands competition, costume prizes, ...
The Notting Hill Carnival is London’s most exciting annual event.
