WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF? By Kerrie Roberts

Kerrie Roberts was born on 1st January 1985 in Miami (USA).
Her father was a pastor and a church choir director.
She started performing music at the age of 5, singing in her mum's church choir. She plays the piano and writes her own songs. She graduated with a degree in studio music and jazz vocal the University of Miami.

Being compared to the girl who has everything

Not living up when the whole world's watching

Being the last to get there and the last to know

You scream at the top of your lungs
When no one's listening
Being a basket case over anything
Giving your whole world for love
And the boy says no

So what are you afraid of
Show 'em what you're made of
The shadows that you're scared of
Are usually your own
They're not the great unknown
You don't have to wonder
You're not going under
Grace has got you covered
God is in control
Go on and let it go
What are you afraid of

Right on the brink of a breakthrough but you're frozen
Hurting somebody you love in that moment
No, it's not living if you're always thinking of
The worst that could happen

So what are you afraid of
Show 'em what you're made of
The shadows that you're scared of
Are usually your own
They're not the great unknown
You don't have to wonder
You're not going under
Grace has got you covered
God is in control
Go on and let it go

Whenever it's the darkest
Whenever it's the hardest
Don't you stop before you started
If you're gonna dream
Dream it all the way

So what are you afraid of
Show 'em what you're made of
The shadows that you're scared of
Are usually your own
They're not the great unknown
You don't have to wonder
You're not going under
Grace has got you covered
God is in control
Go on and let it go
What are you afraid of

What are you afraid of

THE COWBOY SONG By Hughes & Eloy Jiménez

Look at the cowboy
Everyone.
He likes riding
In the sun.
He likes canoeing
And having fun.

Stamp your feet
On the ground.
Swing your partner
Round and round.

Look at the cowgirl
Everyone
She likes playing
In the sun.
She likes swimming
And having fun.

Stamp your feet …

SONG: YOU BELONG WITH ME By Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift was born on 13th December 1989. She is an American singer-songwriter. Her second album, Fearless, won four Grammy Awards in 2008 and she became the youngest ever Album of the Year winner.
She is known for narrative songs about her personal experiences.

You're on the phone, your girlfriend ‒ she's upset

She's going off about something that you said
'cause she doesn't get your humor like I do.
I'm in the room ‒ it's a typical Tuesday night.
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like.
She'll never know your story like I do.

But she wears short skirts, I wear t-shirts
She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see That I'm the one Who understands you
Been here all along so why can't you see
you belong with me, You belong with me?

Walking the streets with you and your worn out jeans
I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be.
Laughing on a park bench thinking to myself
Hey, "Isn't this easy?"

And you've got a smile that could light up this whole town.
I haven't seen it in a while since she brought you down.
You say you're fine - I know you better than that.
Hey, what are you doing with a girl like that?

She wears high heels, I wear sneakers.
She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers.
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
that what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see that I'm the one who understands you
been here all along, so why can't you see
you belong with me?
Standing by you waiting at your backdoor all this time
How could you not know, baby
You belong with me, you belong with me?

[Instrumental]

Oh, I remember you were driving to my house
In the middle of the night.
I'm the one who makes you laugh
When you know you're about to cry.
I know your favorite songs,
And you tell me about your dreams.
Think I know where you belong,
Think I know it's with me.

Can't you see that I'm the one who understands you?
Been here all along so why can't you see
You belong with me?

Standing by you waiting at your backdoor all this time
How could you not know, baby

You belong with me, you belong with me?
You belong with me, you belong with me?
You belong with me.

Have you ever thought just maybe
You belong with me? You belong with me.

IT'S SUMMER

Today is 21st June. The Summer solstice starts and it marks the first day of the summer season in the northern hemisphere. On this day the Sun reaches its hightest position in the sky. In our city, Valencia (Spain), it will be at exactly 12:51.
The word solstice is from the Latin word “solstitium”, meaning “sun-stopping”, because the point at which the sun appears to rise and set stops and reverses direction after this day.
In the northern hemisphere, (North America, Central America, Europe, Asia, northern Africa), the June solstice day has the longest hours of daylight (the longest day of the year). It is when the sun has reached its nearest point from the equator and marks the first day of summer.
In the southern hemisphere, (Australia, New Zealand, South America, Southern Africa), the June solstice day has the shortest hours of daylight (the shortest day of the year). It is when the sun has reached its furthest point from the equator and marks the first day of winter.

Do you like summer? What's your favourite season: spring, summer, autumn or winter? What do you do in summer? Write a comment and tell me.

FRIDAY 13TH SUPERSTITIONS

In English-speaking countries, Friday the 13th is considered a day of bad luck.
It is generally considered bad luck to...

  • Start anything on a Friday: a new journey, job, marriage , business project, giving birth, moving house.
  • Cut fingernails  and hair  on a Friday.

  • Have thirteen people at a table.
  • Walk underneath a ladder .
  • Break a mirror ( seven years bad luck).
  • See one magpie .
  • Spill salt. If you do, you must throw it over your shoulder to counteract the bad luck.
  • Open an umbrella  in doors.
  • The number thirteen is unlucky. Friday the thirteenth is a very unlucky day.
  • Put new shoes on the table.
  • Pass someone on the stairs .

It is generally considered good luck to...
  • Meet a black cat. (In the UK, but not in Spain).
  • Touch wood
  • Find a clover plant with four leaves.
  • A horseshoe  over the door brings good luck. But the horse shoe needs to be the right way up. The luck runs out of the horse shoe if it is upside down.
  • On the first day of the month it is lucky to say "white rabbits, white rabbits white rabbits" before saying your first word of the day.
  • Catch falling leaves  in Autumn. Every leaf means a lucky month next year.

Do you believe in good luck and bad luck? Are you superstitious? What are you superstitious about? Write a comment and tell me.
